PET Resin is a very fast growing outlet of all polyester end-use applications. Indeed, it is now the second largest polyester end-use after fibers.

Our brand “SKYPET®” is a very high quality PET resin for packaging application. In addition, it is an environment friendly application, as it uses little non-toxic waste generation (Air, Waterborne and Solid), less CO2 generation and its low energy consumption. SKYPET® has received approvals from Coca-Cola global, Pepsi-Cola International, the Japan Canned & Food Inspection Association, ISO-9002 from BVQI and most of all from FDA (Food and Drug Association). These approvals allow us to market SKYPET® to any related company worldwide.

In term of capacity, we are now is the third largest PET Resin’ producer in Indonesia with market shares of 23% behind Polypet and Indorama with 24% of market shares.

The graph below showed that the PET Resin’ sale was up by US$22.1 million from US$44.7 million to US$66.8 million in 2000. The rise was caused by the imbalance of supply and demand.

On the other hand, the sales for 2001 were down by US$1.8 million to US$65 million, from US$66.8 million last year. It mainly due to the uncertainty and slowdown in the overall economy and the tight competition in the PET Resin industry. Eighty eight percent of SKYPET®’s sales are contributed from the export and the rest of twelve percent are dominated by the local market.

The graph below explains the % market proportion by 2003 sales.

We are very optimism that the global markets for PET resin will improve caused by the increase in demand and prices. Supported by the April 2002 Business Report for PET Packaging Resin Consulting Service, which stated that the higher demand is expected, especially from the continued introduction and rollout of the small juice containers, the growth in water containers and the unexpected return of some modest growth in carbonated soft drinks.

In the US, the end market demand in water and juice is also peaking up. In addition, the volume for European market and Asia are reported to be higher due to the unexpectedly good weather and the Easter holiday.

As for local market, demand for PET Resin in the year of 2001 is estimated to reach 35,000 ton or 75% higher than last year. It was due to the rise of local market demand, mainly from the packaged drinking water industry (AMDK), soft drinks, beers, cosmetics, cooking oil, milk and household appliances. AMDK is the largest consumers of PET Resin with a total of 60%.
