Secretary General of the Association of Synthetic Indonesia (APSyFI) Redma Wirawasta Gita says, the crisis that struck the European Union and the United States (U.S.) have an impact on exports of textiles and textile products (TPT) China. He said, during the January-February 2012 exports of garments (apparel) China fell 2.5 percent, while textile exports fell 2.6 percent.
On April 2012, Chinese garment exports edged up approximately one percent, but exports of textiles remains down 0.3 percent. So the trend of the first four months of 2012 can be said China textile exports decreased.
"Despite the decline of the very small percentage, but when viewed from a very large value because in the past year China textile exports are over $ 200 billion. Compare with our textile exports last year reached only USD13 billion," said Redma in Jakarta.
Redma manjelaskan, China's export decline will impact on the country of which will be the market of waste products that can not be exported to the U.S. or Europe because they are very large production capacity.
"Especially for upstream products such as fibers and yarns, yarn and fabric producing countries such as Indonesia and Brazil is the main target of castoffs China," he said.
Redma example, in the first quarter of 2012 exports of yarn spun polyester (PSF) to the U.S. fell 700 thousand tons. "That is, the PSF manufacturers China failed to sell 700 thousand tonnes of PSF to the domestic market for U.S. exports of yarn to go down, when coupled with a decline in exports to the EU is expected to reach 1.5 million tons, you can imagine how much stock PSF and polyester spun yarn they have now are ready to be discarded into the export market and Indonesia is one of them, "he explained.
Redma added, fiber and yarn from China would be exported at a price which is uncertain. "Like it, love it (the price), Chinese manufacturers do not care about loss, because for too long will keep a stock of more loss. Normal price will be sold at the domestic market, if they can not absorb domestic waste going to Indonesia at a price below our manufacturers, dumping is, "he said.
